The Story
Completed in 2023, this residence sits on the edge of Palma's historic quarter — where the city gives way to open landscape and the light changes character entirely. The brief was for a private retreat that felt neither urban nor rural, but somewhere between the two.
The structure is built from local Mallorcan limestone — the same material that has defined the island's architecture for centuries. Large boulders found on site were incorporated into the terrace level rather than removed, becoming part of the composition. The building does not sit on the land so much as emerge from it.
Three levels step down the natural slope. The uppermost contains the private sleeping quarters. The middle level opens onto the main terrace — a generous outdoor room shaded by the mass of the wall above. At ground level, a covered loggia connects the interior to the landscape without fully committing to either.
